The Itokuro Estate

Selected one of the 100 most beautiful sunset views and one of the 100 best beaches in Japan, Sakurai Futamigaura in Itoshima is famous for the two giant “married couple rocks” that are joined by a “Shimenawa” rope and the torii gate standing on the beach.

Karatsu Castle was completed by Terasawa Shimanokami Hirotaka in 1602. Visitors can enjoy a magnificent view of the Genkai Sea, Iki and Nijinomatsubara, Matsuura Bridge, and the castle town of Karatsu from the castle tower.

The temple lies at the north of Mount Raizan’s midsection and is also called “the Kannon of Raizan”. Visitors can enjoy viewing the many Buddhist statues and Shinji Garden.
The foliage on the 400-year-old giant maple in mid-November is also spectacular.

Yatai serve up some of the best street food in Fukuoka . These temporary food stalls are set up every evening across the city and draw crowds of locals and visitors. They are excellent places to experience Fukuoka culture and meet locals over a bowl of ramen, freshly grilled yakitori, or even a plate of snails in garlic butter.

Among the hundreds of Tenmangu Shrines throughout Japan, Dazaifu's Tenmangū is the most important one alongside Kyoto's Kitano Tenmangu.

The grounds are populated by several deeply historical structures, including the vermillion main shrine and the surrounding gardens, Tenkai Inari Shrine, Homotsuden (treasure house) and the Kanko Historical Museum.

teamLab Forest is a new kind of museum created by art collective teamLab, consisting of a Catching and Collecting Forest and an Athletics Forest.

Sakurai Shrine in Itoshima’s north, established in the early Edo period by Fukuoka Domain’s Tadayuki Kuroda, features a unique layout with Iwato-gu over an ancient tomb, and aligned main and worship halls, and a tower gate. Built in 1632, the main hall is adorned with intricate joinery and colorful sculptures.

Ranked among the most beautiful waterfalls in Japan, the 150 meter wide cascade is fed by the volcano's spring water and flows off the edge of a 20 meter high cliff in thin white streams that resemble hanging threads of silk - hence its name.

Several souvenir shops line the trail that leads down to the falls, and visitors can enjoy the famous noodle dish “nagashi-soumen” noodles and other local delicacies.

Built recently in 2022, LaLaport Fukuoka is the ultimate shopping destination, including 220 stores and one of the largest food court and dining spaces in Kyushu.
